January 2008 Brynjar Gunnarsson went to Mozambique to document the changes in the habitat near the great Zambese River as well as the rivers Púngui and Búzi. Floods in Mozambique are not uncommon. Some people, near the rivers, have had to abandon their homes as often as four times in the last seven years and then return to a bare earth.

Now the government is offering the victims new lands far from the rivers to harvest and raise their homes. Although having lost all they had, the people are looking with positive eyes to the future. This not trouble-free though, since the new land is not as fertile as the old one. The future without the chance of floods overwhelms that of the bad lands.
